About the Finish
Our Aged Brass finish is intentionally tarnished using an accelerated ageing process that causes a dark patina to gather around the edges and recesses of the design. This rich colour offers a beautiful contrast against the repolished surface areas, offering an abundance of charm and character perfect for any period dwelling.
Our Aged Bronze products are manufactured from solid bronze containing a minimum of 85% copper. Due to the process used to age the metal, this finish is very dark and has a rich, matt appearance. During the final stages of manufacturing, we apply a durable, matt lacquer to this finish which helps preserve its distinctive tones.
Beeswax is our most authentic finish for steel. After forging, these products are dipped into hot beeswax which allows them to retain their original colours ranging from blue to deep ochre. All our Beeswax ironmongery offers a subtle matt richness and is a more natural, and far softer, alternative to a black powder coated finish. These products offer excellent internal protection when properly maintained.
Our Black finish is a popular choice in traditional settings. Its subtle sheen offers a bold contrast on stained and painted timber alike. During the manufacturing process, our Black products are baked in a high-temperature oven, giving them durable, corrosion-resistant qualities.
Our Natural Smooth products are manufactured from cast iron and finished with a clear matt lacquer. This produces a beautifully smooth look with an abundance of charm, perfectly suited to traditional and contemporary settings alike.
Our Polished Bronze products are made from solid bronze containing a minimum of 85% copper. This finish is aged and then subsequently re-polished to highlight the lighter surface areas against the darker, detailed parts. During the final stages of manufacturing, we apply a robust lacquer which helps preserve this bright contrast.
Our Polished Chrome products are made from a base of solid brass coated with a durable chrome plating to give an exceedingly high-sheen finish. Favoured for its bright, bold appearance, Polished Chrome is well suited to contemporary designs and offers a smooth, mirror finish when polished. This works best if a cool, clean look is desired.
Our Polished Nickel products are manufactured from a solid brass base with a high-quality plating. This finish is bright, reflective, and extremely versatile. When polished, it offers an impressive depth of reflection and has an appropriate place in modern properties, but its warm tones also make it suitable for traditional settings.
Our Satin Brass products are made from solid brass. During the final stages of manufacturing, our Satin Brass products are brushed with a satin wheel to give them their distinctive appearance. A high-quality matt lacquer is then applied to their surface for protection.
Satin Brass brings a sense of sophistication and offers a more contemporary alternative to Polished Brass. The rich, warm undertones of this finish exude luxury and are sure to create a statement in any space.
Our Burnished Brass products are manufactured from solid brass. They then undergo an accelerated ageing process to create a dark patina before being placed into barrelling machines to create the burnished finish. Each Burnished Brass product has a unique finish which is protected by a high-quality, clear matt lacquer.
Care Instructions
This finish will continue to oxidise and age as it is an unlacquered finish, meaning the finish will darken over time. If the product becomes tarnished or too dark, it can be polished on all surface areas to enhance the finish. To restore and brighten the finish, we recommend polishing with a dry cloth or alternatively using our ‘Brasso’ (73102), which assists with the cleaning of solid brass products. Regular oiling of all moving parts using our ‘3-in-1 Oil’ (92337) is beneficial to the longevity of your products & highly recommended during initial installation. An oily cloth can also be used to wipe over the product from time to time to aid protection against exterior or environmental elements.
Please avoid using ‘Brasso’ (73102) or any other cleaning products on this finish, as this may affect the lacquer. Oiling of all moving parts using our ‘3-in-1 Oil’ (92337) is beneficial to the longevity of your products. This process is also highly recommended during initial installation. An oily cloth can also be used to wipe over the product from time to time to aid protection against exterior or environmental elements.
To ensure the finish on your beeswax product always remains at its best, we would advise re-coating your product with our ‘Maintenance Wax’ (33002) from time to time. This adds further protection to the metal and helps to prevent any rust or white blooms forming. Due to temperature changes or packaging, a Beeswax product may occasionally show signs of a white bloom upon opening. This can be buffed with a soft cloth to remove.
Please note that where possible we would recommend using our External Beeswax in areas of your property with high moisture content, such as bathrooms or kitchens. Light surface rust may appear if using our standard beeswax in damp internal environments, but this can be removed with ease with 00 grade wire wool and a reapplication of our ‘Maintenance Wax’ (33002). For accompanying external products, we recommend using our external beeswax finish.

An oily cloth can also be used to wipe over the product from time to time to aid protection against exterior or environmental elements. This can also be done from installation. For any minor scratches that may occur with general wear and tear of your product, we offer a durable ‘Black Touch Up Paint’ (73101) if required.
Our ‘Maintenance Wax’ (33002) should be wiped over the product from time to time to form a protective barrier, particularly when in damper internal environments, such as kitchens or bathrooms. Please avoid using ‘Brasso’ (73102) or any other cleaning products on this finish, as this may affect the lacquer. Once the bronze begins to darken and tarnish, a dry cloth or beeswax based furniture polish can be used on the affected area to restore the shine and offer some protection. This would ideally be beeswax (but products like “Pledge” and “Mr Sheen” work well too) and will help to remove dirt, fingerprints and watermarks. Also, regular cleaning with the aforementioned furniture polishes will help preserve and maintain the lacquer. We recommend avoiding the use of any chemicals or cleaning products on this finish as it may affect the plated finish.
