About the Finish

Our Aged Brass products are made from solid unlacquered brass, offering an abundance of character and charm. This finish is perfectly suited to period dwellings and will create a statement throughout. Due to the accelerated ageing process this finish undergoes, a darker patina gathers around the edges and recesses to contrast beautifully with the re-polished surface areas.

Our Aged Bronze products are manufactured from solid bronze containing a minimum of 85% copper. Due to the process used to age the metal, this finish is very dark and has a rich, matt appearance. During the final stages of manufacturing, we apply a durable, matt lacquer to this finish which helps preserve its distinctive tones.

Our Black finish is a popular choice in traditional settings, it has a subtle sheen and offers a bold contrast on both stained and painted timber alike. It is baked in a high-temperature oven giving it durable corrosion resistant properties. This finish is extremely low maintenance and perfect for use in bathrooms, kitchens or externally where damper environmental conditions are expected.

Our External Beeswax is unique to From the Anvil and is manufactured from an anti-corrosive beeswax. It has a matt richness and like our standard beeswax, the depth of colour ranges from blue to deep red ochre. An extremely natural finish and a far softer alternative to a black powder coated finish.

Our refined Matt Black finish has a distinct contemporary feel. Naturally, it looks great in ultra-modern interiors, but this versatile finish is timeless and will create a sophisticated statement in traditional or more rustic settings too. The Matt Black finish is applied to a base material of solid steel and then baked in a high temperature oven, resulting in a subtle black patina that emphasises the product’s clean silhouette. This finish is extremely low maintenance and has excellent corrosion resistant properties, making it perfect for use in bathrooms, kitchens or externally where damper environmental conditions are expected.

Our Pewter Patina finish is forged from a durable base of steel and is a fine example of how our unique manufacturing techniques add further detail to the natural charm of metals. The process by which the contrasting textures of this finish are created results in a rich appearance that sits well in characterful, rustic homes but also offers a contemporary alterative in more modern settings. Our Pewter products are complemented by natural materials such as oak or looks equally as good against many paint colours.

Made from solid unlacquered brass, this finish is both classic and simplistic and offers great possibilities for stately and period dwellings alike, particularly where a very traditional look is desired. When fully polished this finish has a depth of reflection. However, as the product is unlacquered this can also be left to age naturally, which over time will create a beautifully historic finish.

Manufactured from solid bronze containing a minimum of 85% copper. This finish is firstly aged and then re-polished, which creates a subtle contrast between the lighter surface areas and the darker detailed areas of each product. To preserve the bright contrast of this finish, we apply a robust lacquer at the final stages of manufacturing. A perfect choice for both contemporary and traditional settings.

Our Polished Chrome products are made from a base metal of solid brass with a high quality chrome plating applied to the surface. A high sheen finish that is most commonly used in contemporary settings. This finish offers bright, bold and reflective qualities which work best if a clean, cool look is desired.

Our Polished Marine Stainless Steel is grade 316 and manufactured with high concentrations of chromium and nickel. This finish has extremely resilient corrosion resistant properties, exceeding 1000+ hours salt testing. An excellent choice for coastal locations or polluted environments, where a high sheen look is desired. This finish is very versatile and works equally well with warm and cool tones. For complementary products, we recommend our Polished Chrome finish.

Our Polished Nickel finish is a high-quality plating applied to solid brass. This finish is bright, reflective and extremely versatile. It is very well suited to modern properties but equally matched to traditional settings due to the warm, calm tones. As our Polished Nickel finish is made using only one plating on brass, it offers a subtle warmth that cannot be replicated by more modern chrome finishes.

Our Satin Brass products are made from solid brass. During the final stages of manufacturing, our Satin Brass products are brushed with a satin wheel to give them their distinctive appearance. A high-quality matt lacquer is then applied to their surface for protection. Satin Brass brings a sense of sophistication and offers a more contemporary alternative to Polished Brass. The rich, warm undertones of this finish exude luxury and are sure to create a statement in any space.

Our Satin Marine Stainless Steel is grade 316 and manufactured with high concentrations of chromium and nickel. Regular oiling of all moving parts using our ‘3-in-1 Oil’ (92337) is beneficial to the longevity of your products & highly recommended during initial installation. An oily cloth can also be used to wipe over the product from time to time to aid protection against exterior or environmental elements.

Regular oiling of all moving parts using our ‘3-in-1 Oil’ (92337) is beneficial to the longevity of products. This process is also highly recommended during initial installation. For accompanying internal products, we recommend our beeswax finish.

This finish is very low maintenance and is suitable for use in bathrooms, kitchens and for external purposes. We recommend avoiding the use of any chemicals or cleaning products on this finish as it may affect the plated finish. An oily cloth can be used to wipe over the product from time to time to remove any harmful deposits that build up on the surface of your product, this will also aid protection against any environmental elements. A dry cloth can also be used to wipe over the product and reduce finger marks. Regular oiling of all moving parts using our ‘3-in-1 Oil’ (92337) is beneficial to the longevity of your products. Despite the natural durability of this finish, we would still recommend washing your product using a soft, clean cloth and mild soapy water from time-to-time to reduce unnecessary pollutants building up on the products surface. Please ensure all products are dried immediately with a clean, soft cloth after any cleaning. Over time, stainless steel can appear to tarnish. This is due to surface particulate deposits rather than the stainless steel itself. Specialist stainless steel cleaning products are available to remove tarnishing and soft lint free cloths can be used to apply them.
